I remember walking in the dark, The moonlight soft upon your face, The silent murmurs of the park, The lines of your body I would trace. We’d hold on tight and say “forever”, Shadows dancing in the dark, Hold our breath to breathe together, Moonbeams dancing in the dark. The hours they’d fade away, Did you ever see them go? Later they’d make us pay, But for now we did not know. We’d hold on tight and say “forever”, Shadows dancing in the dark, Hold our breath to breathe together, Moonbeams dancing in the dark. I didn’t see that early dawn appear, It brought a magic of its very own, Down your cheek there rolled a single unseen tear, I didn’t realise I only had your heart on loan. We’d hold on tight and say “forever”, Shadows dancing in the dark, Hold our breath to breathe together, Moonbeams dancing in the dark. At night those murmurs still awake me, With a painful aching long, For those shared shadows no eye could see, And the whispers of our silent song. We’d hold on tight and say “forever”…
